Nutrition in my experience is far to overcomplicated by the majority of people, with a large number focusing on short-term results and quick fixes such as supplementation, crash dieting and unsustainable methods which fail to address the basics first. Ask yourself how long did it take for your body to get to where it is now, I'm pretty sure it was not just a few days weeks and possibly not even months. Likely it took years of habits that are not in line with your goals for health, performance or simply the way you want to look.

In this introduction to nutrition, I will show you how to take control of your diet in a way that works for you that is both realistic, sustainable and rewarding. I will describe how starting with the mind first is a key factor in achieving your goals. I will show you how to put together a plan, how best to manage your daily intake and how to overcome setbacks when they occur.

"We are what we repeatedly do excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit"

                                                                                                                                                                  - Aristotle

Human beings are habitual in nature. The way we behave and navigate our way through life is often the result of habits we have developed or adopted over a long time. We are hardwired to seek pleasure, avoid pain, discomfort or disappointment. Because of this habits can be challenging to break or overcome, but failing to break a habit that is not in line with your goals and simply adopting a new eating scheme is like taking a painkiller but not correcting the thing that is causing you pain in the first place.

Think about it, how did it go the last time you took up a new diet plan or drastically changed the amount or what you eat? I'm guessing that when you reached your goal, that's if you actually reached it your progress stopped. Then you began to lose the hard-earned results you had made and then you were back where you started or in most cases worse off than when you even began.

Changing your nutrition is as much about changing your habits and identifying the reasons that are causing you to make the choices you are making and why.  Over the next section, I want you to answer the following questions giving as much detail as you can. I want you to really think about it as I am sure you will be surprised as you start to notice the habits which could be holding you back from achieving your goals.
